Biography: Clancy was born on January 5, 1959, in the southwestern Ohio town of Urbana, where his family still lives and operates the local newspaper company. His father, former U.S. Representative Clarence J. Brown, served in Congress for 16 years, and Clancy spent much of his younger years living near Washington, D.C. He received a track scholarship to Northwestern University and graduated with a B.S. in Speech. He married television news producer Jeanne Johnson in 1993 and two years later became a father.
